RigiFloat® modular floating platform supporting heavy vehicle transport

Hann-Ocean Technology Pte. Ltd. has recently secured a contract for a modular Ro-Ro ferry project in Africa. Under the contract, Hann-Ocean will supply two modular Ro-Ro ferries for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The project comprises 24 units of 40-foot RigiFloat® modular pontoons and four vehicle ramps, with delivery scheduled for completion by the end of January 2027.

The project will utilize Hann-Ocean’s RigiFloat® modular pontoon system. The pontoons will be assembled to form Ro-Ro ferry platforms and equipped with vehicle ramps, enabling vehicles to drive directly on and off the ferries.

During the project development process, the client visited Hann-Ocean’s manufacturing and R&D base in China. Both parties discussed the technical solution, modular pontoon system, manufacturing process and project implementation, and the client also toured the relevant production facilities and equipment.

Technical and project implementation discussions

The two ferries will be used for cross-water transportation of vehicles and cargo in the DRC, providing reliable waterborne transport infrastructure to support regional logistics and daily transportation. Hann-Ocean will proceed with production, quality inspection and delivery in accordance with the contract requirements, with particular attention to the manufacturing and quality control of the pontoons, connection systems and vehicle ramps.

Contract signing for the modular Ro-Ro ferry project

RigiFloat® features a modular design that can be configured to meet different project requirements. In addition to Ro-Ro ferry platforms, the system can be used for floating jetties, construction platforms and other water-based infrastructure applications.

For regions that depend on waterways for connectivity, safe and reliable ferry infrastructure plays an important role in maintaining the movement of vehicles, people and goods. Once commissioned, the two ferries will support local cross-water transportation of vehicles and cargo in the DRC, contributing to regional transportation and logistics.

The signing of this contract marks another step forward in Hann-Ocean’s expansion in the African market and further extends the application of the RigiFloat® modular pontoon system in the Ro-Ro ferry sector. Hann-Ocean will continue to provide practical modular marine equipment and engineering solutions for transportation and water-based infrastructure projects in different countries and regions.
